Last week, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) reached a significant settlement that promises to reshape the landscape of real estate commissions. In response to lawsuits challenging the traditional commission model, NAR has agreed to a series of changes aimed at increasing transparency and fairness in the way real estate agents are compensated.
What does this mean for you?

The buyer's agent compensation will no longer be listed in the MLS. However, buyers and sellers will still be able to negotiate compensation for agent services.

A requirement for buyer’s agents to present a Buyer’s Representation Agreement before showing properties, ensuring their commission aligns with this agreement.

An allowance for sellers to cover the buyer’s agent fees, but such payments must be negotiated as part of the Residential Purchase Agreement (RPA), termed "negotiated Seller concessions."
